Dermatology

9th March 2021

Key points from the webinar:

Please attach appropriate images of the patient’s skin condition to every eRS referral if possible. (This includes CASES)

o   For 2ww referrals, please ensure a dermatoscopic image is included.

o   If the patient is not attending face to face, but has taken images of their condition, these can also be attached to

         the image.

Consultant Connect App is free for all Sheffield GPs to use.  Using the app, ou can easily take photos of the patient using their

own device (it is completely IG compliant), transfer them to the patient’s record and attach to any eRS referral

o   The slides from the event show how the app works

o   This app compresses the images without compromising on quality, so they will attach to the eRS referral easily.

o   Download it from App Store or Google Play

o   Your Practice admin team can access all the images taken by staff within that Practice on one web portal (this is

known as PID access). Please ask your Practice Manager to Email support@consultantconnect.org.uk to request

         access to this.

PCS’s Extended Access Hubs now offer image clinics, and will take images of your patients for you; these slots can be booked via EMIS and SystmOne, and are available every day and at the weekend.

o   The staff in those hubs will upload the images to the patient’s record you, and then email the Practice to let them

know that the images are ready for review and attaching to referrals.

·  The CCG is in the process of trying to secure funding to ensure that every Practice in the city has a dermatoscope that can be

attached to a smart phone.  Watch this space!

 STH and SCH appointments

·  Please advise any patient that you are referring to either STH or SCH, that their first appointment will be a telephone

appointment.  (This includes 2 week wait appointments).

o   If we want to see the patient face to face, we will ring them to advise this, but the norm is on the telephone.

o   If any letters you provide to the patient from eRS state that it is a face to face appointment, please can you advise

them that this is an error.

2ww Teledermatology Service - STH now offers a Teledermatology Service, and can be accessed via eRS.

o   The referral must include three images (the whole body part where the lesion is, a close up of the lesion and a

         dermatoscopic image)

o   The patient will not be telephoned or given a face to face appointment in the first instance; the images will be

reviewed by a Consultant Dermatologist and directed to the appropriate place:

§  Discharged back to the GP as the lesion is not of concern

§  Booked in to a telephone or follow up appointment with a consultant for further discussion.

§  Referred straight to Plastic Surgery

Please contact Dora.Deane@nhs.net , if you have any further questions or require clarification.
