Non Medical Prescribing 29.3.2022

Event Information:

Non Medical Prescribing 29.03.22

Following on from the publication of the NICE guidelines on shared decision making in June 2021, our topic for the 2022 NMP PLI is how to apply shared decision making in our consultations and prescribing; Jonathan Underhill (Medicines Consultant Clinical Adviser, Medicines and Prescribing, NICE) who authored the NICE guidelines will take us through what shared decision making is, how it fits with evidence based practice, cognitive psychology and how people make decisions before we look at the guidelines and the resources available to use it our consultations.

In addition we have Chrissy Luff (senior manager for personalised care, NHSE) putting shared decision making into the wider context of personalised care.

We will have a panel of local experts, through whom we will explore putting shared decision making into practice in our daily clinical work and what this looks like. You will be invited to submit your questions before hand.

Sally Kirby, Kerry Lawrence and Dr Ben Allen are currently confirmed to answer questions around preventative medicine, de-prescribing, complexities around capacity, ASD and mental health

It will be a rich event of learning and reflection for all prescribers and those who have an influence on prescribing (non-prescribing nurses, pharmacists and PA’s) that will give you 3 hours of prescribing CPD.
